At this point, I have decided to boycott BP, and I highly suggest you do the same.
As the evidence rolls in, its obvious that BP is clearly at fault for what happened. The lack of any plan to fix a problem like this means that my future home (New Orleans) faces two huge issues which stand to be magnified by each other, according to today’s NPR broadcast: hurricane season, and the destructive capabilities of the oil spill.
According to scientists interviewed by NPR in today’s story, it’s believed that as the oil captures the sun’s heat, and prevents evaporation of water, the intensity of a potential hurricane could be increased. Additionally, should a hurricane occur and redistribute the oil onto the region’s marinelife, it could very likely permanently kill the wildlife and destroy the ecosystem. Meaning there would be no wetland defense against hurricanes, meaning the fishing industry is caput, meaning… goddamit, fuck you BP!
